Impact of snow day use for students, families

On March 1, the district notified families that Friday, May 26 (which had been identified on the school calendar as a possible contingent holiday) will be a regular school day for all Bethlehem students K-12 due to snow day use in January and February. Despite last week’s snow storm and the use of two additional snow days, March 14 and 15, there will be no further impact to the school schedule for students at this time.

To ensure the district has the required number of instructional days to meet state guidelines and its contractual obligations, administrators are working with teachers on a schedule that will allow the district to meet those obligations with a Superintendent’s Conference Day on Friday, April 21. This would be a day for instructional staff only. No students would be required to attend on April 21.

However, please be aware that if a snow day were to occur between now and the April break (which begins with the Good Friday on April 14 and continues through April 21) there is the possibility that Thursday, April 20 could become a regular school day for students and staff. While this scenario is unlikely, the district is asking parents to be aware that should there be a need for additional snow day use, it could impact the vacation schedule.
