The district will soon begin COVID screening testing of students. The testing program, part of ongoing COVID mitigation plans in the 2021-22 school year, will prioritize student testing as follows:

  • regular testing for participants in “high-risk” athletics and extracurriculars who are not fully vaccinated or not eligible for the vaccine due to being less than 12 years of age (BCMS/BCHS)
  • unvaccinated students who participate in approved field trips (field trips are currently only available for BCHS students)
  • students who are unvaccinated and participate in other extracurricular and athletic activities at school (BCMS/BCHS)
  • random testing of unvaccinated students K-12
  • random testing of vaccinated students K-12

This is not a diagnostic test. It is a test for students who have no symptoms of COVID-19. The screening testing will be used to identify potential outbreaks early in order to mitigate the spread of the virus. It is part of the district’s layered COVID-19 protocols to ensure health and safety of all students and a continuity of instruction.

Parental consent will be necessary for any on-site COVID testing of students. Parents should watch their email for a testing consent form for their students. The testing consent forms will be emailed to all families K-12 beginning the week of Oct. 4. You will receive the emails daily until you provide/decline consent for your child(ren).

If your child is scheduled for screening testing at school, you will receive an email notification prior to the scheduled date of the test. For those students who require regular weekly testing, a notification will only be sent the first time a student is tested. Parental consent will be verified every time a student is tested.

If you have any questions regarding screening testing, please contact your school nurse.
