On May 17, the students at BCMS were treated to a visit by Steve Sheinkin, the award-winning author of many books on American history for young adults. He spoke to the students about his books, his experience as an author, and his love of American history.
Sheinkin’s latest book, The Port Chicago 50, is a finalist for the National Book Award and a winner of the Boston Globe Horn Book Award for nonfiction. He was awarded the Newbery Honor, the Silbert Medal, and the YALSA Award for Excellence in Nonfiction, all for his 2012 book Bomb: The Race to Build and Steal the World’s Most Dangerous Weapon. His other work, The Notorious Benedict Arnold, also received various awards. Lincoln’s Grave Robbers and the Rabbi Harvey series of graphic novels are also works of his.
